Not that you can't use the GFX100 in the field you most certainly can. Like Jim said, one is geared towards a studio stetting and the other for the field. No matter what you chose, you will end up with a great camera. There are argument to be had in both directions. In the end, they stripped the GFX100s down for cost purposes, while still keeping the important components, and you have to decide if the difference between the two is worth it. When I had the GFX100, the I didn't use the vertical grip a lot and the two batteries, while great, I get close to a day shooting on one GFX100s battery with a 2nd battery, I am more than good.

Yes, I would prefer the GFX100 EVF to the 100s, but the GFX100s EVF is plenty good I used the LCD a lot to frame. I can get down to 1/8th of second and get truly sharp pictures, handheld.

IBIS is key for me because I hate setting up the tripod. If for the same price, and the GFX 100 is in mint condition and low shutter count, I would still go for the the 100s, because it is smaller and the IBIS is better because I shot handheld 99% of the time. I can never quite put my finger on it, but I think it is the lack of PDAF array on the sensor. I have always found something special about that sensor. Oddly enough I don't think I will sell the 50s. When the time comes, I will probably upgrade the 100. The 100 is large, but it does balance lenses better and its EVF is a definite step up and better matched to the higher resolution of the camera. I rarely use either camera handheld, so don't have much of a need for IBIS. And, both cameras share the same battery. I enjoy both cameras and the 50s comes with me on hikes, usually paired with the 32-64MM.Ī while back I started using the tile adapter for the EVF, and I can't take that accessory off. And, I remain in good shape so when I do it is not a big deal. Since I do mostly landscape and seascape work, I don't need to carry equipment for long distances. I think it depends on what and how you shoot.
